To Bear Witness: Building Community

After the Khmer Rouge killed her husband, Saron’s mother gathered her three small children and made her way to a refugee camp in Thailand and, finally,  to America.  Mother and son opened the Mekong Bistro, the only Cambodian restaurant in Portland, Oregon, where they cook traditional dishes following family recipes. It is a place to bring people together, to create a nurturing community and to rejoice in the company of family and friends.
