Hannah Kendall is a junior majoring in Journalism at Pacific University, where she is the editor-in-chief of her school’s newspaper, The Pacific Index. With a minor in Music, she spends hours at the keys of a piano. She plays anything dramatic, dissonant, and emotive. Hannah hails from a long line of hardworking pioneers, who immigrated from England and crossed the plains in a wagon train to help settle Utah. Their stories of hardship and sacrifice fuel her desire to write narratives that foster understanding and empathy. She believes everyone has an immigration story. When people connect to these stories, she believes community and inclusion can be cultivated, furthering the national dialogue on immigration. When she is not studying, Hannah is exploring new hikes, navigating Portland by public transit, and reading about typography. Her favorite font is Futura. After graduation, she hopes to find a career in newspaper layout and design.
