Alejandro was born in College Station, TX , where his father was studying to become a pilot, and grew up in Honduras. There, he graduated from college, worked as a web developer, and saved money for graduate school. He came to the United States to pursue his Master’s degree in Computer Science at Purdue University, and after graduating in 2012, he moved to Oregon to join Intel as a Software Engineer.
Alejandro believes that community involvement and civic engagement are essential to building a healthier community and society. He is passionate about increasing participation of underrepresented communities in STEM and in his spare time has volunteered as a robotics coach/mentor for Latinx youth. He loves to explore new places, cultures, and cuisines, and has visited more than 10 countries so far.
Alejandro has been a part of The Immigrant Story board of directors for the last four years and has served as its Secretary for the last year.
