This year, in observance of Genocide Awareness Month, The Immigrant Story and Oregon State Univeristy Press invite you to a special program hosted by Salem Public Library, “The Immigrant Story Live,” on April 30, 2024 at 2pm in Loucks Auditorium, 585 Liberty St SE, Salem, OR 97301. This memorable event will honor the voices of survivors of genocides and atrocities of war.
The event will kick off with powerful stories of survivors from wars and killings in Cambodia, Rwanda, and Bosnia. They will present remarkable, first-person tales of courage, fortitude and resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges.
Following the stories, Elizabeth Mehren, the author of I Lived to Tell the World: Stories from Survivors of Holocaust, Genocide, and the Atrocities of War, will join the storytellers for a discussion. The panel will welcome questions from audience members.
Come and be part of it! Books will be available for purchase on-site. Be sure to arrive early to secure your copy of I Lived to Tell the World, personally signed by the author, Elizabeth Mehren. After the conversation, Elizabeth will also be present for a book signing.
