Join Us to Write Stories That Can Change the World
The Immigrant Story Scholarship is a $1,000 award for students who are passionate about using digital media to raise awareness and advocate for immigrant and refugee communities. If you share this vision, we invite you to apply for this opportunity.
Eight scholarships will be given for the calendar year 2024.
The Immigrant Story (TIS) is a volunteer-run nonprofit whose mission is to foster empathy and build a more inclusive community by sharing thoughtful narratives of immigrants and refugees who often overcame tremendous odds to reach the United States.
Our mission is to use storytelling as a tool for social change and empowerment for immigrant and refugee communities. We are looking for students who are interested in journalism, marketing, advertising, or social media, and who want to join us in this cause. This scholarship is made possible by a generous anonymous donor.
As an Immigrant Story Scholar, you will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of publishing, working with experienced editors and writers to interview sources, do related research, and write human interest stories. You will be paired with a mentor who will guide you through each step of the writing process as you work toward becoming an independent member of The Immigrant Story team. You will finish with your own strong portfolio to showcase your work.
Check out our previous Scholars who have not only published during their internship but were also able to use this opportunity to move their careers forward.
