Emily Ker is a junior at Portland State University majoring in International Studies with a specialty in African Studies. Her ancestors immigrated to the U.S. from Europe, her mom grew up in Brazil and she herself grew up in Mozambique and Malawi before moving to Portland to attend university. From spending most of her life in Africa, she grew up appreciating the stories that people carry with them, both personal stories and fictional stories, and is especially interested in the stories where those lines seem to blur in a mysterious way. Emily loves to travel, get to know people, sing, and learn Afro dance routines. In the future she hopes to be able to travel around the world, mainly in Africa, and record the stories of people that she encounters along the way.
